Firefox 8 and Classic 8

Two new Ecodesign multifuel stoves hit the market!

As we edge ever closer towards 2022 when Ecodesign regulations come in, it was interesting to see the recent launch of the Firefox 8 SL Eco multifuel stove and Classic 8 SL Ecodesign multifuel stove. These two stoves perfectly reflect the commitment by UK stove manufacturers to releasing machines which are Ecodesign friendly from 2020. These are just two more to add to a growing list of Ecodesign multifuel/woodburning stoves as manufacturers’ ramp up efficiencies/economies and of course continue to reduce the impact on the environment.

Firefox 8 SL Eco multifuel stove

The beauty of the Firefox 8 SL Eco multifuel stove is the fact that while it is classed as “entry-level” this is actually a quality stove at an affordable price. Unfortunately, many stove enthusiasts are still perplexed as to how the company can manufacture quality durable Ecodesign stove for well under £1000. We have seen the stove, we have used it and we know exactly what it has to offer. Brilliant!

EU Ecodesign stove directive

What exactly is the EU Ecodesign stove directive?

The EU Ecodesign directive will have a direct impact on wood-burning and multifuel stoves, and other heating products, from 2022 but it has actually been around since 2005. There seems to be a general misconception that the directive relates only to heating products when it actually relates to all goods and services. The directive is already impacting green energy, sustainable flooring, recyclable products and eco-friendly packaging to name but a few. So, what is it and how will it impact the stove industry?

What is Ecodesign?

Lifting the description out of the EU directive, Ecodesign relates to the production of goods and services for customers while:-

•    Minimising the use of resources
•    Minimising the impact on the environment and society

It is safe to say this is a far-reaching directive and one which can and will no doubt be applied to more and more areas of business going forward. As we touched on above, there is a general misconception that this directive relates only to wood-burning/multifuel stoves, and other heating products, but this is not the case.

Bowland Stoves bespoke handmade garden furniture

Those who visit our website on a regular basis will be well aware that we recently introduced a BBQ section as a consequence of demand from existing stove clients. While this has proven to be extremely popular in the relatively short time we have been “live” we have been shocked by the interest in our range of bespoke handmade garden furniture. Due to our market research we knew there was demand for bespoke furniture but not to the level we have seen in recent weeks!

Why is bespoke handmade garden furniture so popular?

One of the main problems with traditional garden furniture is the fact that you can’t personalise it, you can’t stamp your style on it and many people are concerned about value for money. Mass made products do certainly have a place in the market but as more and more people spend time in their gardens, adding plants and enjoying social events, many feel the need to make things “a little different”. Hence the ever-growing demand for bespoke handmade furniture and our growing range of products.
