Fireplace Chambers, more than a quick fix

Save a fortune seasoning your own wood

What is a fireplace chamber?

A fireplace chamber is the area where your wood burning or multi-fuel stove is positioned and lives; the area around your stove inside the chimney.

What people don't know is that the chamber has multi functions, which we'll discuss in this blog. And further more, people don't realise that fireplace chambers can be purchased pre-formed, which saves costs and time installing.

The functions of the chamber

The fireplace chamber has two very important functions. The first is to protect the chimney and surrounding areas from the heat and any sparks. In older properties, the chimney was probably suitably designed to withstand even open fires. However, opening up a chimney to install a new stove will probably reveal untidy brickwork and black soot; not very pretty. The second function is to radiate heat back into the room rather than being lost through the wall and chimney.

The visual feature

The fireplace chamber is an often overlooked design feature when installing a wood burning or multi-fuel stove. People consider the hearth and the mantle. But they often overlook that the fireplace chamber is also visible and can be an amazing feature in its own right.

So if you are installing a new stove and opening a chimney, always consider the chamber. Opening a chamber can be visually impressive.
